What is a Therapeutic Massage?

Massage is the manipulation of the soft tissue; it can be soft and gentle with the addition of essential oils or deep in order to work on painful "knots" that produce lactic acid.

Massage will help:
• Relieve muscular aches and pains
• Improve blood circulation
• Decrease blood pressure and heart rate
• Reduce tension and anxiety

Massage will promote:
• Relaxation
• Stress relief
• Feeling of well being

Our bodies can become tense and rigid through the effects of unbalanced movement habits, emotional tension or physical injury. With repetition, the connective tissue layers begin to glue together and the body becomes stuck in that position. The whole body adjusts to this imbalance, and soon the impact will be reflected throughout.

Similarly, with emotional patterns, a feeling of depression is often characterised by a sunken chest. If this feeling and the bodily stance become habitual, the body will take on this shape.

Physical trauma also disturbs our balance and posture. If you injure your leg you may walk in an uneven or awkward way to protect the injury. That movement pattern can remain long after the injury has healed. Injury and surgery traumatise the connective tissue at the site of the injury, and the scarring and inflexibility may further influence your movements. As life goes on, more and more of these patterns become embedded in the tissues of our bodies.

What is Deep Tissue Massage?

Deep tissue massage is a type of massage therapy that focuses on realigning deeper layers of muscles and connective tissue.

It is especially helpful for chronically tense and contracted areas such as stiff necks, lower back tightness, and sore shoulders.

Some of the same strokes are used as classic massage therapy, but the movement is slower and the pressure is deeper and concentrated on areas of tension and pain.

What is Acupressure and Chinese Massage?

Acupressure is an ancient healing art that uses the fingers to press key points on the surface of the skin to stimulate the body’s natural self curative abilities. When these points are pressed they release muscular tension and promote the circulation of blood and the body’s life force to aid healing.

The therapist stimulates the same points used in acupuncture with finger pressure, rather than inserting fine needles. Using the power and sensitivity of the hand, acupressure is effective in the relief of stress-related ailments and in preventive health care.

Acupressure Massage can bring relief if you suffer from any of the following conditions:

• Arthritis
• Indigestion
• Headaches
• Constipation
• Sinus Problems
• Eye Strain
• Neck Pain
• Ulcer Pain
• Backaches
• Muscle aches
• Menstrual Cramps

Chinese Massage involves pushing, stretching and kneading the muscle which focuses on pinching and pressing at acupressure points. The whole treatment can be done over the clothes.

What is Aromatherapy Massage?

Aromatherapy massage is massage therapy using highly concentrated plant oils, called essential oils, added to the massage oil or lotion.

Contrary to what its name suggests there are no fatty elements in a pure and natural essential oil. This means they diffuse or evaporate very quickly. Essential oil maybe calming, stimulating, anti-depressant, balancing, anti-viral, anti-bacterial, detoxifying, analgesic, notifying, grounding or uplifting.

Essential oils and essences are extremely powerful substances; they should therefore be used with precaution. “Natural” or “Organic” are not synonyms of “harmless”.

Aromatherapy Massage is a very powerful experience.

What is Cycloidal Massage?

It is a combination of horizontal, vertical and circular motions that create a
gentle, deep penetrating therapeutic action, easing muscle and joint pain and
improving circulation.

At Interactive Healing Therapies we use Cycloidal Massage in combination with other massage techniques to address individual needs.

There are 3 fundamental benefits that research and studies have proven Cycloidal Massage can achieve on a temporary and repeatable basis* at the locally applied area:

improve the blood: Cycloidal Massage has been shown to
accelerate the healing time of open wounds (for example it is used directly after surgery in the Taiwan Veterans Hospital Intensive Care Unit).

improve the lymph: (Drainage) more waste products such as toxins, excess fluid and large waste protein molecules can be removed, thus helping to reduce swelling (lymphoedema), ease local pressure and reduce toxic waste build-up.

Ease muscle tension: The pain from muscle spasm is reduced; fatigue is reduced (relaxed muscles use less energy); restful drug-free sleep can be induced; better circulation is enabled (deep tissue massage releases the tension around the arteries to facilitate improved blood flow and a lymphatic "flush out"); and there is less pressure on joints thus improving joint mobility and reducing joint pain (eg: back pain and arthritic joint pain).

What is Chi Nei Tsang (CNT)?

Chi Nei Tsang (CNT) is probably the most complete system of healing there is,
without the use of drugs, instruments or invasive procedures.

CNT is mostly concerned with the origins of health problems including
psychosomatic responses. CNT builds the resilience of the body's defence system. This is done by working on the abdomen in a way that triggers internal
"adjustment" through what we call the client's "insight".

CNT addresses all of the body's systems.

CNT also addresses the energy system (chi). Chi is energy impregnated with
information. Chi can sometimes be visualised as a current of water which can be flowing and clean, or stagnant and turbid, or a raw source of power that can be transformed into different functions, the same way electrical current is used to create heat, cold, movement, music and so on.

Chi is like a fluid, slowing down on curves, building up behind obstructions and rushing through narrow paths.

CNT is a form of teaching and coaching through touch and verbal support. CNT trains every part of the body to awareness in order to develop a system of auto-regulation ready to be cultivated and used.

How Chi Nei Tsang can help you?
CNT begins with an examination of your navel.

Taoists learned by observation. They learned that is it is possible to know a great deal about the condition of the abdominal area and internal organs just by examining the shape of the navel.

The floor of the navel can be puffy and congested, or it may be very deep. It may be twisted or pulled and may or may not include the sidewall and rim. The navel may be pulled in one or more directions. It may be vertical, horizontal, diagonal, tear-dropped, collapsed, blown out, or turned clockwise or counter-clockwise.

CNT is great for Skin Detoxification
In CNT we treat the skin of the abdomen, starting at the navel. This is where the umbilicus of the foetus received nutrition and eliminated toxicity.

As the original centre of the body, the navel is still connected with all the organs. Whatever toxins the organs cannot process, they store in the navel for later detoxification.
